Pumpkin Spice Mug Cake >

On 11.14.2016 by Laura Basher

Now that Halloween is over and Thanksgiving is around the corner, I can totally relish the fact that fall is in full bloom. Here in San Diego, it doesn’t cool off and feel like autumn until November. We still haven’t given up our flip flops, but we just wear them AND our sweaters! This is also the time of the year where I make homemade pumpkin purée. I always have a stash of pumpkin goodness in the freezer. I like to sneak pumpkin into everything I make: soups, chili, and even pancakes! My pumpkin spice mug cake only needs 2 tablespoons of pumpkin purée. A mug cake is a super easy and quick way to enjoy a warm and fluffy cake in minutes. The baking Read More >

On 10.24.2016 by Laura Davidson

Having worked as a baker for a dessert food truck, I have a strong affinity for cupcakes. I’ve made thousands upon thousands of them. They might have started as a food trend but, in my humble opinion, they’re here to stay. These pumpkin cupcakes with marshmallow frosting and caramel drizzle are the perfect portable, festive, fall dessert. Inspired by classic sweet potato casserole with marshmallows, the pumpkin cupcakes are topped with a light and fluffy marshmallow frosting and finished with a light drizzle of homemade caramel (or store-bought caramel if you are short on time!). Similar to homemade meringue, the marshmallow frosting is made with just a handful of ingredients: Davidson's Safest Choice® pasteurized egg whites, fine granulated sugar, cream of tartar, salt, and pure Read More >

Strawberry Rhubarb Ice Cream Recipe >

On 07.15.2016 by Kelsey Banfield

There is something about the strawberry and rhubarb flavor combination that screams summer to me. The tart rhubarb and extra sweet strawberries complement each other so perfectly. One can easily tell that the sweet flavor isn't from granulated sugar, it is a natural sweetness that can only be produced by warm fruit that has enjoyed a long spring growing in the sunshine. This ice cream opened the summer season for us last week. We returned from our annual Cooperstown 4th of July celebration and I set straight to work making it. I even made our homemade ice cream activities a little easier on us this year because I used our favorite Davidson’s Safest Choice®  eggs. They are pasteurized in an all-natural warm water bath to eliminate Read More >

Toasted Marshmallow Frozen Custard Recipe >

On 06.21.2016 by Angie McGowan

Summer is my favorite season. There’s so much fun to have and so many things to do. One of my favorite things we’ve been doing for years now is our weekend beach trips. We live very close to Daytona, so we get to drive on the beach. I’ll pack a picnic lunch and we’ll spend the afternoon on the beach. It’s so much fun and so easy because you have your car right there. When we’re headed home we always stop at the same frozen custard shop. It’s my favorite and the perfect way to end a fun filled beach day. They have so many different flavors, but I love the simple flavors like vanilla the best. Then I can add any topping I’m in the Read More >

Roasted Berries Ice Cream >

On 06.17.2016 by Nam Nguyen

We are mere days away from summer…and you know what that means?? Sunny days, beautiful weather, shorts and flip flops all day long, and ice cream 24-7. Oh yes, ICE CREAM! And when ice cream is homemade—it’s even better. So dust off those fantastic churning machines and let’s get to work! Now I’ll be the first to admit, every time I think about making ice cream, I always stop and ask myself—is it worth the effort? Why not just go out and grab a pint? But then I remember how ridiculously easy it is to whip up a batch, particularly when you have a trusty ice cream maker that does all the churning work for you. Added bonus? You know every ingredient that goes in Read More >
