About Salmonella & Eggs

Salmonella, the number one cause of foodborne illness in the U.S.(1), is responsible for causing 1.4 million reported cases of infection per year (2). 

It is estimated that one out of every 10,000 eggs produced could be contaminated with Salmonella. Since a pallet of eggs is approximately 11,000 eggs, this means in every pallet of eggs brought into a retail store there could be one contaminated egg.
