Eggnog Martini Recipe

| 1 Review

Potent and classy, this martini brings an air of sophistication to classic eggnog. Impress your guests as you raise your glass!

Servings: 1

Active time: 3 minutes

Total time: 3 minutes

Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 oz Safest Choice™ Classic Eggnog
  • 1 1/2 oz (1 1/2 shots) vanilla vodka
  • cinnamon schnapps
  • garnish: cinnamon stick, peppermint candy, or graham crackers (see variation)

Preparation

  1. Chill 5 ounce martini glass by filling it with ice.
  2. Mix Safest Choice™ Classic Eggnog with vanilla vodka in a shaker, giving it a few agitations.
  3. Empty ice from martini glass and then swirl cinnamon schnapps around inside of glass.
  4. Strain content of shaker into the glass, garnish with cinnamon stick, and serve.

Variations

For holiday flare, try rimming the glass with crushed peppermint candy instead of swirling the glass with cinnamon schnapps. The candy can easily be crushed to near-powder form by using a food processor, or by placing the candy into a plastic baggie and either rolling over it with a rolling pin or pounding it with meat tenderizer. Pour the crushed peppermint onto a plate. As soon as the ice in the glass has been emptied, turn the glass upside down and press rim into the candy. The moisture from the chilled glass will help the candy adhere to the rim.

Try crushed graham crackers as an alternative rim around the glass.

This is another great recipe added by the Safest Choice team. This past holiday season I made both the Classic Eggnog recipe as well as the Eggnog Martini. Both were hits. The Eggnog Martini really warmed me up, and managed not to lose that classic eggnog flavor that my family loves. This recipe also worked great with cupcake flavored vodka--it was a little less sweet than the vanilla vodka.

The Raw Egg Risk

Safest Choice™ Eggs aren't just good for sunny side up or poached eggs. Consider all the recipes that feature raw eggs, like eggnog, Caesar salad dressing, raw cookie dough, custard and more. Take homemade ice cream, for example. Over a four-year period, more than 500 illnesses in the US were traced to Salmonella bacteria in homemade ice cream, according to the CDC. The ingredient at fault? Raw or undercooked eggs.
