Banana Bread Recipe

This banana bread recipe is moist and delicious! The streusel topping adds a classic flavor and zest.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 c all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 c mashed bananas (about 3 medium)
  • 1 c sugar
  • 2 Davidson's Safest Choice® pasteurized egg(s)
  • 1/2 c cup vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 1/2 c cup chopped toasted walnuts or pecans

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease 9x5-inch loaf pan; set aside.
  2. In large bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, pumpkin pie spice, baking soda and salt until completely blended.
  3. In separate medium bowl, combine bananas, sugar, eggs, and oil. Stir into flour mixture just until blended. Stir in nuts.
  4. Pour batter into prepared loaf pan. Smooth top. Sprinkle with streusel, if desired. Bake 50 to 60 minutes or until golden brown, and toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Let cool on rack 10 minutes. Remove from pan.

Streusel Topping

  • 1/4 c packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 c all-purpose flour
  • 2 Tbsp butter
  • 1/4 c chopped, toasted walnuts or pecans (optional)
  1. Combine brown sugar and all-purpose flour. Cut in butter until crumbly. Stir in 1/4 cup chopped toasted walnuts or pecans, if desired.
