Grilled Cinnamon Rolls Recipe

These grilled cinnamon rolls are the perfect dessert for summer cookouts or camping.

Cinnamon Filling

Ingredients

  • 1/3 c brown sugar
  • 2-3 Tbsp coconut oil, melted
  • 2-3 Tbsp cinnamon

Preparation

  1. Combine brown sugar, coconut oil, and cinnamon and set aside.

Cinnamon Rolls

  • 1/3 c butter
  • 1 c milk
  • 2 Tbsp instant rise yeast
  • 1/3 c honey
  • 1 Davidson's Safest Choice® pasteurized egg(s)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 1/2 c flour, plus more for kneading
  1. Melt butter in saucepan. Add milk and heat until mixture reaches 110ºF.
  2. While butter and milk mixture is warming, add yeast and honey to bowl.
  3. Stir in milk mixture to combine. Add egg and salt; mix.
  4. Fold in 2 1/2 cups flour. Add remaining flour, 1/4 cup at a time until dough comes together—will still be sticky.
  5. Flour hands and work surface. Knead dough about 5 minutes. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise for 20-25 minutes.
  6. Roll out dough into 8x13 inch rectangle. Add filling and spread into even layer. Carefully roll dough into a tube, keeping roll tight. Cut individual cinnamon rolls with string, about an inch thick.
  7. Place on parchment-lined baking sheet, cover, and let rest for 10 minutes.
  8. Grease grill grate and place cinnamon rolls on grill for 5 minutes. Flip and grill another 2 minutes. Remove from grill.

Glaze

  • 1 c powdered sugar
  • 2-3 Tbsp milk
  1. Combine powdered sugar and milk. Drizzle generously over cinnamon rolls.

Variations

Add dried fruit, nuts, or chocolate to filling.
